LARD STONE SCULPTURE XIXTH CHINA FOLIAGE DECOR M468Lard stone sculpture Chinese work from the 20th or late 19th century, probably a soliflore, it is old. Lard stone is a steatite (aluminous silicate, hydrate of iron and magnesia) imitating jade, pale white-green in color with gray and orange marbling. Quite tender, it was used in the Far East for making small objects, statuettes, Fô dog, pagodas, magots, sculpted and polished seals. It was widely imported into Europe in the 18th century. The foliage decoration and the engravings are made with great finesse, it is a beautifully crafted object. Note rubbing and micro-scratches on the whole, a lack on one of the sides, however it remains in acceptable condition. We are selling it as-as-found. Sold uncleaned, unrestored. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description. I remain at your disposal for any questions.
