Student of the Painter Marten Von der Loo, his father and his uncle, the sculptor Floris de Cuijper. At the same time, musical studies: Laureate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, he was also a musician (viola soloist) of international quality. This undoubtedly explains his art of transparencies, harmonies of forms and color. Suspended in a poetic space, forms slide over each other, freeing up openings for the eye and the mind. In other, monumental canvases, v. Loo goes beyond this fluidity to fix forms that have the value of sculptural emblems. There he combines elementary force through the robustness of the volume, and delicacy through the bath in which these compositions rest. All his canvases appear as different aspects of the same world. This world is that of native light, around an object, a form. He is the painter of the molecular abyss, where spirit and matter are one, because united in force. A Belgian art critic rightly wrote that it is "thanks to the sensitized light that this painting penetrates into the realm of Flemish fantasy". V. Loo did not give titles to these paintings in order to avoid any connection with specific images. The signature v. Loo XI indicates that v. der Loo is the eleventh painter in his family. Exhibitions in Hanover, Vienna, Stuttgart, Ghent, Veurne, Bad Homburg, Antwerp, Geneva, Le Poët-Laval, Laethem, Lyon, Lingen, Vittel. See other items in my auctions. Happy bidding!
