Micro-mosaic plaque Greek dancer in Antique 19th century oval frame A5383 This beautifully crafted plaque is characteristic of micro-mosaic. We designate by the term “micro-mosaic” a mosaic in which the tiny elements of spun glass, fragments of colored enamel (smalti filati) or hard stones, constituting its decoration, are very finely assembled so as to make the joints almost imperceptible. It is an ancient representation of a woman, probably a Greek dancer playing with her veil and dress. Everything is beautifully made, high quality and large in size. We can admire the technique in the rendering of the face and in the drape of the dress. The plate is fixed on a copper support which can be seen in the last photo. The plate was probably reframed later in a 19th century frame with leaf gilding, you will note classic wear and friction on this frame. The plate is in decent condition, however we report small gaps, a few cracks, nothing serious. Our numerous photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object. For the condition, please detail the photos. Feel free to zoom in. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Frame Height: 30.2 cm Width: 26.3 cm Thickness: 3 cm Work Height: 19.5 cm Width: 15.3 cm D: 1328000 I remain at your disposal for any questions.
