Description
Rare watercolor gouache, in color on cardboard paper, representing a gentleman or musketeer in Louis XIII costume. The work is signed lower right, M. Asselin for Maurice Asselin, born in 1882 in Orléans and died in 1947 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, famous, painter and engraver, French from the Paris school, specialist in still lifes and portraits.
At the bottom left it is written EA for artist's proof and on the back it is written, study number February 4, 1902
The realization of this gentleman is both perfect in its execution as well as in the details provided by the artist for the representation of the clothes as well as in his position and his gaze.
Condition there are a few small scattered humidity spots on the left as well as old traces of damp on the back of the work.
It will be sent without its frame which is of no interest. Size height 55 cm width 38 cm
