Delivery service: Colissimo Luigi Guardigli (born in 1926 in Lugo, in the province of Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna and died on September 19, 2008 in Paris) is a contemporary Italian painter and mosaicist. Luigi Guardigli stayed for a very long time at La Ruche in Montparnasse and worked in particular with Gino Severini, Marc Chagall, Georges Braque, Jean-Michel Folon, Fernand Leger and Jean Bazaine. We owe him paintings (oils, gouaches, on canvas and on paper) with supple and delicate movements and frank and harmonious colors, halfway between lyrical and geometric abstraction. His incessant quest for the play of shapes and colors is found in his work as a mosaicist (Ministry of Finance). At the age of 18, he enrolled at the School of Fine Arts in Ravenna, where he studied from 1941 to 1951. Between 1951 and 1957, he worked with the Gruppo Mosaicisti on the restoration of ancient mosaics in the churches and monuments of Ravenna. During the Second World War, from 1943 to 1946, he was enlisted in the Regia Marina (Italian Royal Navy) in La Spezia, which forced him to interrupt his studies. At the end of November 1951, he arrived in Paris and taught at the School of Italian Art as assistant to the painter Gino Severini, founder and director of the school. From 1957, with Lino Melano, another mosaicist and compatriot from Ravenna, he made mosaics for other artists, such as Fernand Léger, Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Jean Bazaine and Raoul Ubac. He also collaborated on the mosaic of the façade of the Fernand Léger National Museum in Biot (Alpes-Maritimes). In 1960, he executed, at the Colombe d'Or in Saint Paul de Vence, a mosaic designed by the painter Georges Braque. From 1961, he had a studio in residence for artists at La Ruche at 2, passage de Dantzing in Paris. In 1962, in another collaboration with Braque, he created the famous fish tank of the Maeght Foundation in St Paul de Vence. His collaborations with many famous artists continued, and the last was with Jean-Michel Folon. From 1958, Luigi Guardigli participated in the creation of many mosaic panels for schools, function rooms, etc. Some examples: 1966. Mosaic of 91 m2, based on Chagall's models, for the new Parliament of Jerusalem. (Israel). 1971. Large mosaic for the entrance hall of the University of Letters of Clermont-Ferrand based on models by Joseph Lacasse. 1981. Creates a mosaic panel, on slabs, of 10 m2, based on a model by the painter J.M. Folon, for the Maison de la Radio Télévision Belge in Brussels. 1983. As part of the 1% of the State, creates a mosaic panel of 5 m2 based on a personal model, in the hall of the Gendarmerie Barracks "Tempoure" in Marmande (Lot et Garonne). 1985. Mosaic (nearly 300 m2 of surface area) which covers the vault of the children's swimming pool in the Saint Eustache construction site. 1986. He participates, with a model, in a competition for a mosaic decoration intended for the new Ministry of Finance in Bercy, based on models by the painter Martial Raysse. 1989.
