Florence DALUZ: small mosaic salamander
unique piece
acquired directly from the artist
dimensions: 14 cm x 9 cm x 4 cm
themes: animal animals symbol
It was during a trip to Naples that Florence DALUZ truly discovered art mosaic. A favorite for this artist who began with sculpture, then integrated the world of mosaic into her work, which led her to now define herself as a "mosaic sculptor".
Using ancient techniques and rare and extra-ordinary materials, Florence DALUZ diverts or creates form and material in order to revive a new and contemporary mosaic. She uses marble, sandstone, glass enamels, semi-precious stones, mother-of-pearl buttons, feathers, snake skin, shells... She thus shapes her own style, which is easily recognizable.
In this universe which reminds us of the creations of the great goldsmiths and jewelers, we come across dogs, cats, turtles, snails, frogs, salamanders, snakes, tigers, fish... without forgetting the irresistible chickens. But Florence DALUZ also exercises all her talent in variations around the theme of the human body. This is how the woman's body is magnificently sublimated in the very large mosaic sculpture entitled "The Mermaid".
