History of the model:
Here is a superb and rare Russian dragoon saber model 1881. This saber equipped the dragoons (cavalry) of the Empire until the end of it in 1917, as well as during the bloody Russian Civil War (1917-1923). ). The 1881 dragon model was taken over by the Soviets with very different markings until the early 1950s.

This very beautiful and rare saber called "shashka" model 1865, itself inspired by the French cannonier model, equipped officers of the Afghan army from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The handle is made of wood covered with leather, filigree and brass, no play. Marked: ''ISLAMIC RELIEFS'' (to be deciphered). The blade is still shiny, in its juice with traces due to time, to be cleaned, still having its original brown leather tie with its original scabbard, also stamped at the entrance, a few small dents, but nothing severe. A magnificent and very rare shashka which can easily decorate your window intended for the sabers of the Russian Empire from the period of the last Tsar Nicholas II, but also of the Afghan army. Very rare and 100% original guaranteed! Very beautiful piece, pleasant to hold in the hand and even more pleasant to admire in the window. Superb saber which has still retained its period shine!
