The ax was not just a parade weapon for German firefighters. In fire gear, it is worn in black leather which encloses its iron, suspended on the left side by a wide strap attached to the belt by a loop. The head of the parade axe, whose general shape is identical to the working axe, is however contoured and engraved with etching. Its handle ends with a nickel-plated button. A plaque nailed to the handle is intended for dedications. Two bail rings are attached to the handle, under the iron.
