Historical context:
Hunting, also called "hunting with hounds", is an ancestral hunting method that consists of pursuing a wild animal (traditionally deer, wild boar, roe deer, fox or hare) with a pack of hounds, until it is exhausted and captured. Only dogs hunt, thanks to their sense of smell and predatory instinct. The role of the man, generally on horseback for the occasion, is to control and follow them.
Hunting with hounds is practiced in France, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Italy and Portugal (Santo Huberto's crew). In France, deer, roe deer, wild boar, fox, hare and rabbit are hunted with hounds.

Superb and large saber or dagger of the administration or vennerie type with Yatagan blade. The handle is in gilded bronze and leather or black lacquered wood, we find there: '' reliefs with an Ottoman hallmark ''. It is very solid, without play, in a remarkable state of conservation. The blade is engraved with '' different floral decorations and reliefs '' in good condition with normal traces due to time. The scabbard is in very clean steel. The object has been very well maintained to arrive today in a more than exceptional state. The object is totally original and very, very rare, almost impossible to find on the market, especially in this state of conservation, '' museum " !!!
