Historical context :
The history of the factory began when a German scissor maker from Solingen, Peter Daniels Pauls, married Johanne Amalie Storsbeg, whose father owned a successful cutlery business. In 1834, shortly after the marriage, Paul began producing penknives himself. Paul's first shipment of knives was shipped to the United States in 1850 and his high quality knives were valued by both dealers and collectors. Peter and Johanne's daughter would later marry a young scissor maker named Frederich Robert Klaas, and after Paul's death the two companies merged to form the Robert Klaas Company in 1869. Production increased and the Klaas name continued to gain popularity and in 1895 Klaas registered the "Kissing Crane" logo as its trademark.

Very beautiful Prussian or German type dagger/bayonet. Checkered black handle, wood and iron, damaged and a little deformed (probably an incident during the fighting). The blade has a marking on the heel: ''CARL EICKHORN SOLINGEN'' with a Squirrel as it should be. The blade is in great condition, still shiny (museum condition), the sheath still has its black paint as well as its small fixing rivet. Very beautiful and rare green wrist strap with silver thread, as well as its original leather harness + an exceptional photo of the owner of the object. Very beautiful dagger, totally homogeneous, very rare. Also in force in the Ottoman Empire during the First World War as well as during WW2. Very pleasant to hold and just delicious when displayed in a window, a real gem! Truly very rare in this condition!
