AN OBJECT AS UNUSUAL AS IT IS NOT FOUND except in rare museums!
For memory:
When sugar was molded into large conical loaves, this shape being extremely hard, it had to be crushed with a pick, hammer, ax or pliers before consuming it.
Here is an extremely rare counter model with an original wooden base.
This type of pliers with its strange shape which was used to split, break and cut sugar, in order to sell it by weight and consume it in small quantities.
Presumably made of wrought iron, it dates from the 19th century.
