The model 1816 light cavalry saber is a French light cavalry saber, for troops and officers. It was adopted in 1816 to replace the AN IX model, the AN XI and the AN XIII. After the fall of the first empire, it was decided to reorganize the armaments, and Colonel Cotty was to take care of it. A model will be created for light cavalry, one for heavy cavalry, one for foot artillery, and another for infantry. This model is the ancestor of all the sabers which will be produced subsequently until the 1896 model, it will be used until the end of the restoration. It marks the disappearance of the mump and the long cap, the distinctive sign of light cavalry. Saber model 1816 for light troop cavalry. This saber will equip horse hunters and hussars, of the line and the royal guard.
