COLOR ENGRAVING BY LOUIS GARNERAY 19TH CENTURY VIEW OF NANTES DEPOSITED TO THE MANAGEMENT L1748 This engraving is old, probably 19th or early 20th century. It represents a “View of Nantes taken from Salorges” by the painter and engraver Ambroise Louis Garneray. The frame is gold. Ambroise Louis Garneray, born February 19, 1783 in Paris where he died September 11, 1857, is a French privateer, marine painter, designer, engraver and writer, precursor of the maritime adventure novel. He lived an adventurer's life with Surcouf and Dutertre, he was a prisoner of the British for eight years. As for the condition, we note some small rubbings and small stains on the engraving and in the margin, however it remains in good general condition. Note some wear of the gilding and small gaps on the frame. You will notice that its protective tile is in place. For the condition, please detail the photos. Feel free to zoom in.
