Art enamels by master enameller Fauré Limoges.It is signed lower left: Fauré Limoges France.Enamel is in perfect health.Let's note a slight impact on the frame at the bottom left.Sold as presented.Camille Faure, born in Vizille on May 21, 1840, was a student of the School of Arts and Crafts in Aix from 1857 to 1860. He worked as a chemist in the new factory of the Cotton Powder Company at Uplees, Faversham, Kent, England. The Limoges Enamel, or Work of Limoges (opus lemovicense in Latin), is a technique of working with enamel, known as champlevé enamel, which appeared in the middle of the 12th century in the French city of Limoges. After having been very successful in Western Europe, it disappeared in the middle of the 14th century. the 15th century, the silversmith's work of translucent enamels on relief is a a process that Limoges does not seem to have practiced much. But at the end of the 15th century, a new method of using enamel appeared in France: painted enamel. Painted enamels became, as in their time champlevé enamels, the monopoly of Limousin workshops. Finally, even today, a few creators perpetuate or renew the production of enamels with contemporary creations. This know-how is listed in the Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage in France.
