Gisèle FERRANDIER was born in 1909 and lived to be over a hundred years old. Close to these artists who were called "of poetic reality" or "The children of Matisse", such as Brianchon, Oudot, Cavaillès, Planson or Legueult whose works she owned, she was never officially part of the group and their exhibitions, perhaps a victim of the fact of being a woman (a handicap in the art world at the time and sometimes even today!) and especially of her many travels from which she brought back many paintings whose style gradually evolved from a "classical" 1930 to abstraction, passing through these flamboyant colors used for example in her landscapes of Morocco, Spain or the South or in her dazzling still lifes. Her works are present in many museums and major collections and she was crowned with a retrospective exhibition at the Musée d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1970.
