Very beautiful carafe/ewer, old (period unknown), Napoleon III, body in cut crystal, neck and spout in gilded brass (old silver plating, Christofle?) clapped with handle (functional) and handle (broken). Carved/engraved body with geometric patterns, faceted lozenges, neck and beak decorated with embossed reliefs of foliage. The flapper handle looks like a small stylized sea animal, initials are engraved on a medallion on the front of the neck "JB" (?). 28cm max height, 26cm without the valve handle. Diameter, about 13cm at the widest, thick circular foot. Body in very good condition, slight marks of time (superficial scratches and very small barely visible chips) and very discreet dirt, a little dirt inside at the bottom. Beak and clapped neck in very shiny lighter brass, some small very discreet scratches as well as some remains of silver plating (remaining present inside, inner edge of the beak blackened, but cannot be seen if closed). Finally, the handle of the neck is broken, the entire lower part is missing, the top is unsoldered in 2 parts, it is however possible to resolder it and use it as it is. It remains a magnificent piece of display and collection. About 2kg. Not signed.
