LACQUER BOX COUROC MARQUETTERIE CHOUETTE MONTEREY PIERRE CARDIN M279 This box is an article that was selected by Pierre Cardin for his spaces in Nantes and Paris. It is a lacquer box of the Couroc brand based in Monterey, California. The Couroc Company was founded by Guthrie Courvoisier and his wife Moira Wallace in 1948. Before creating the company, Courvoisier ran the Courvoisier galleries in San Francisco, including he had inherited from his father in 1934. In 1937, when Walt Disney created Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Courvoisier saw a chance to represent a unique line of art - a desire that would grow in scope and vision, ultimately leading the creation of the Couroc Company. In 1938, Disney granted Courvoisier the exclusive right to market their original animated art. The art sold exceptionally well, but in 1942 the Galerie Courvoisier closed to produce plastic parts for military aircraft. This too would ultimately fuel the successful creation of Couroc products. We believe the owl decor is inlaid, the wooden box is lacquered.General condition is good with slight wear and friction throughout no shocks no lacks. We sell it as found uncleaned. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. The photos are an integral part of the description.Dimensions: Height: 5 cmLength: 21.5 cmWidth: 10.5 cmP: 786358 I remain at your disposal for any questions.
