Coffee table Ceramic tiles by Roger Capron 1960 Black metal structure L2434 This ceramic table from the 60s was made by Roger Capron. It is a chic model with a pretty shape typical of the works of Roger Capron. The table is colorful with a floral decoration on three bands. Roger Capron (1922-2006), is a French ceramist. Passionate about ceramics, he knew how to approach this technique in different ways. He modernized the traditional curves of Provençal pottery, developed mass production, became interested in decorative tiles and then in sculpture. Throughout his life, he perfected his art to take it to new styles. He is one of the artists who contributed to the return of the golden age of ceramics in Vallauris. Subsequently, he opened a factory with about fifteen workers in 1952. He is recognized for the alliance between know-how and mass production. He received numerous prizes in Milan, Cannes and Brussels. In 1970, he also won the international grand prize for ceramics. The factory will close its doors in 1982 following the crisis. Capron therefore took an interest in Raku sculpture and opened a workshop in the heart of Vallauris. His pieces will be present in many galleries around the world.
