18th C. GILT BRONZE CLOCK GERARD A PARIS WOMAN WITH ANTIQUE HIVE M1355 This gilt and chiseled bronze clock from the Empire period represents a goddess with a Cupid. The dial is surrounded on the right by two doves, symbols of love, and on the left by a beehive with bees. The rectangular base resting on feet in the shape of bird's feet is decorated with a frieze representing a putto. The enamel dial is signed Gérard in Paris. The ornaments chosen symbolize the industrious activity of the French people but also order, freedom, rediscovered peace and affirms imperial power. It is spectacular and of high quality. This clock has its original movement. It has not been revised or tested, it is sold as such. The clock is in a good state of conservation, we report scratches, wear of gilding on the knee and the back of the dress, small stains in places, a small lack of enamel.
