BRONZE SUBJECT BY MAX LE VERRIER GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG HEAD MARBLE BASE 1930 E705Here is an exceptional piece that is rarely released, it is a piece made by Max Le Verrier. The subject is in bronze, there are few of them at Max Le Verrier. Max Le Verrier (1891-1973) will devote his whole life to sculpture. He edited a few works in terracotta, then produced his first sculpture, his famous Pelican in the 1925 style (axe sculpture). This piece, signed Artus (pseudonym of Max Le Verrier), was a great success and is the basis of his publishing house created in 1919. He does everything himself, the manufacture (casting, carving, patina) and the sale of his works. He will make a "Marabout", a "squirrel" of cubist tendency, as well as panthers ("Baghera"), chimpanzees ("Monkey with the umbrella"), horses, lions. At the same time, he will create many caps for car radiators, very popular at that time, in particular, the "Eola" model, a replica of the famous cap of the Rolls. It represents a German shepherd's head with a nice original patina, several nuanced browns. Great finesse in rendering and execution. For the scale we point out that the mannequin posed next to the bronze measures 34 centimeters in height. Note that we do not sell the mannequin with the bronze. The base is in marble. The piece weighs a significant weight 13.6 kilograms. We report for the most picky friction and wear of use on the bronze. The base is a little damaged, especially at the back where there are a few cracks, nothing unacceptable. Everything has a Max Le Verrier inscription in the neck and a bronze marking a little lower. For the state thank you for detailing the photos. Feel free to zoom. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: Base height: 11 cm Base depth: 17 cm Base width: 15 cm Sculpture depth (snout to back of neck): 26.5 cm Sculpture width: 13 cm Sculpture height: 27.5 cm Total height: 38.5 cm S: 61DAG8AEP: 994200 I remain at your disposal for any questions.
