Dresden porcelain owes its origin to Augustus the Strong, who was passionate about the beauty of this precious material and inspired by the oriental and Asian motifs created by ceramic painters. In 1708, Johann Friedrich Böttger discovered the secret of making white porcelain.

Under the impetus of the king, a factory was established in Dresden, quickly recognized as the "cradle of white gold" in Europe, before being transferred to Meissen a few months later. Since 1872, the Saxon factory in Dresden has perpetuated traditional craftsmanship.
