ALFRED GOBERT MANUFACTURE DE SEVRES PAIR OF ANGEL DECOR PLATES XIXTH H4057 This pair of plates is exceptional, in fact, they were made by Alfred Gobert (1822-1894) French painter at the Sèvres porcelain factory and professor at the Rollin college. These plates represent, for one a Cupid and for the other a cherub. They are of two colors, a typical blue of Sèvres for one and a black for the second. Here is what we can read for the "Manufacture de Sèvres Gobert" signatures, probably the date that is erased. You will notice that the two plaques are adorned with two sumptuous gilt bronze frames from the 19th century with very beautiful gilding, a floral decoration on the top. They were created for these works, they are very well made. We are here on two exceptional plates forming a duo of undeniable quality. Both plaques are in excellent condition when framed. We have photographed the two defects visible only when the frames are open. These defects are on the edges. The rest of the enamels are in sumptuous condition.
