Adeline Hugonnard: HST Bouquet of flowers Dimensions with frame: 80.5 x 69.5 cm Dimensions of the painting: 65 x 54 cm Adeline Hugonnard is a French painter born in Saint-Etienne (Loire) in 1906, and died in Chauffailles (Saône-et-Loire) in 1987. Biography Considered a regional artist, Adeline Hugonnard devoted a large part of her works to floral motifs. A student of the School of Fine Arts in Saint-Etienne, she exhibited at the age of 19, in 1925, five paintings at the Salon of the Société des Arts du Forez (chrysanthemums, dahlias, stock, roses and queen-daisies). Among the works in the salon, there are also paintings by Antoine Barbier, Lyon master of watercolors. In 1926, the city of Saint-Etienne bought a still life, flowers and fruits. This will be the first work in a long series acquired by residents of Saint-Etienne (institutional and private collections). She never stopped painting and exhibited regularly in regional salons: Saint-Etienne, Lyon (Salon d'Automne), Roanne. She painted some oval canvases until the thirties. His watercolors are rarer. As soon as she was born in 1906, a malformation of the larynx was diagnosed which made her deaf and mute. This handicap undoubtedly hampered his artistic career and his rating as an artist. When her father died in 1940, she lived alone with her mother. She will enter the Chauffailles retirement home after her death and the management is setting up a workshop area for her. Adeline will continue to paint flowers, on many supports (lining of her coat, mops, etc.). When she died without issue, she donated her studio funds to the town of Chauffailles. Two of his works are held at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Saint-Étienne Métropole, another at the Center National des Arts Plastiques (CNAP), and still others at the Musée de la Ville de Chauffailles, located at the Château de Chauffailles ( Saône-et-Loire), alongside the works of Marcel Journay. An exhibition organized by the gallery "La Bartavelle" took place in 2010 in Charlieu (Loire): "Adeline Hugonnard, painter of flowers", as well as in 2014 in Usson-En-Forez: "Adeline Hugonnard, a life of painting ".
