Description

6 red wine glasses, Zuzanna model, Amethyst or purple color with golden rims and balls.

There Golden Suzanne collection was launched in 1956. The first samples were distributed by Czechoslovak trading companies to many countries, from the United States to Japan. This series of glasses, including seven different sizes for various wines or spirits, was named after the first name of the wife of the first foreign customer. Each glass featured a golden ball inserted into the stem, sparking curiosity as to their insertion. Staník patented this innovation which remained a mystery for a long time.

Josef Staník started in Zlatno as an assistant glassmaker at the age of 10. He then trained in Nova Banja and the glassmaking school in Novy Bor and became a master glassmaker in Harrachov. It was there that he explored new techniques for shaping glass rods with pliers. Returning to Zlatno in 1952, he continued his experiments, creating in 1956 the special tongs which enabled the creation of the famous Zlatá Zuzana glass. This collection has enjoyed international success which continues even more so since it is no longer produced.

I measured 17cm in height and 8cm in maximum diameter per glass for a total weight of 810g.

Excellent condition, no shine, no scratches or chips. Just to point out a glass where the gilding is worn on the edge (see photo)
