SUITE OF 4 MONTGOLFIERE CHAIRS D AFTER JB DEMAY STYLE LOUIS XVI XXEME L1812 These chairs are a cover of a model by Jean-Baptiste Demay, the Montgolfière chair in Louis XVI style. This model of chair was offered to the 'Montgolfier' brothers by Queen Marie-Antoinette, the coat of arms of M-A is still on the palmette, the back is perforated in a hot air balloon. It is an "AGR Paris" production, we find this marking in stamp. We find a cream colored rechampis enhanced with blue. This article was bought in the 60s and 70s, it is beautifully made, with a nice design, an original fabric. For the more fussy, we report rubbing, scratches and patina wear on the four chairs, yellowing, paint wear on the retouching of the backrests, feet and around, wear of the fabric with small tears, splits in chair backs, one chair with broken split back decor (visible in photo number 7).
