Blanc, Taine, Jaurès, Lavisse, Masson, etc.) This book benefits from very important iconography in black and color (in the text and out of text), brought together specially by Jean Robiquet, the curator of the Carnavalet Museum (including documents from the National Archives reproduced in facsimile, numerous engravings, portraits, etc., all taken from works of the period and reproduced on strong paper ). Complete set, this unusual and emblematic work of the luxurious collections of the 1930s received no follow-up, even if a volume on Napoleon Bonaparte was originally planned. The text, printed with very careful typography on glossy paper, is by Philippe Sagnac, Professor at the Sorbonne and Director of the Center for the Study of the Revolution. Two large quarto volumes in red publisher's cardboard imitating leather. Ornate smooth backs. First boards decorated with cold stamped decoration (title on a coat of arms surrounded by revolutionary attributes.) Upper edges reddened. Original covers preserved. Endpapers illustrated in color. Interior (some foxing in places), wear and rubbing on the covers, white spots, dog-eared corner and wear of the fabric for volume I (top right).
