In 1900, he was, among others, under the orders of Charles Meysson, in charge of the design of the gates of the monument of the children of the Rhône at the Parc de la Tête d'or in Lyon. On April 15, 1902, in Paris 14th arrondissement, he married Antonia Gabrielle Eugénie Cécille. Having had for classmates at the Beaux-Arts the Americans John Mead Howells (in) and Isaac Newton Phelps Stokes (in), they brought him to New York to work in their architectural firm, Howells & Stokes, on buildings In 1907, he met the American engraver Henry Winslow (1874-1951) 4 who introduced him to the technique of etching. Deville is strongly impressed by New York buildings, the perspectives that emerge from the city from Brooklyn and begins to draw and then engrave a significant amount of pieces. During a stay in Paris in 1908, he received advice from Auguste Lepère, who introduced him to the gallery owner Edmond Sagot, a great fan and dealer in prints. In addition, he meets in New York the engraver, from Nantes like him and friend of Lepère, Jean Émile Laboureur: the two men will remain linked. At the end of 1913, his work as an engraver began to be recognized in the United States: two important articles attest to this, in Harper's Magazine and the International Studio: the review prints six engravings which offer views of Manhattan in the 1910s.
