Pair of 19th century ice skates, PS Zwart Warga brand blade. One of the straps is a little dry, the other in good condition, the two straps in the photo are supplied with the skates. Skates are 36 code long. Pieter Zwart is the son of a farmer who learned skating from G. Pool in Wergea and GS Ruiter in Akkrum. In June 1904 he started his own forge at the Nieuwe Hoek and possibly made skating irons for the Hoekstra company at Wergea. In 1912 he had a new forge built across the street on the Leeuwarderweg. Here he makes ice skates for AK Hoekstra by agreement. The wood for his skates is supplied by, among others, AK Hoekstra in Wergea, G. van der Schaaf from Nijehaske and A. de Vries from Goutum.
