Charles Lemanceau, a French sculptor and ceramist, is famous for his earthenware bestiary in the Art Deco style. A graduate of the School of Applied Arts and the National School of Decorative Arts in 1923, in the wake of Victor Prouvé, he worked for the Printemps art workshops and for the Saint-Clément earthenware factory. In 1925, he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, along with the elite: Mallet-Stevens, Le Corbusier and Henri Matisse. Then, after opening his studio in 1928, he devoted himself to Saint-Clément, notably with his series of deer and elephants...
