Old Creil Montereau plate featuring one of Beranger's songs. Here, it is the Chanson de la Vivandière. The illustration on the plate is a copy of a drawing by Henri Monnier. Palmette of a large vine garland. Dimension: 21.5cm Condition: plate with patina of time and scratches, small chip visible in last photo Very pretty old plate 200 years old!!! It was in 1828, the year when the popular repercussions of the song writer's trial and the abundant iconography to which Béranger's second stay in prison gave rise that the publishers decided to illustrate his Songs. Reproducing drawings by Monnier or vignettes dated 1828, the printing of these plates cannot, even if some have a hollow M AU mark, be prior to 1828.
